ARRIVAL: Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport in Arusha, you will be met and transferred to Olasiti Lodge.  Late dinner will be served.

 Day 1: ARUSHA

While designated as a day of relaxation, arrangement will be made to visit:

  • The Cultural Heritage Center displaying modern and traditional art, and sculpture.
  • Sanga Shagaa, located in the gardens of a coffee plantation, is a project focused on developing the creative skills of the Tanzanian disabled community.  Making their own beads and designs, this small business produces beautiful necklaces and accessories. A tour will be followed by tea.
  • Maasai Market is jam packed with traditional Maasai handicrafts at very reasonable prices, not available elsewhere.

Day 2: LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

On our way to Lake Manyara, we will visit the Children’s Concern Orphanage and enjoy the response of the children to our visit and gifts of food and supplies.  Lake Manyara National Park is a scenic gem.  The compact game viewing includes monkeys, bushbuck, buffalo, wildebeest and zebra.  The Park provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife with more than 400 species in the expanse of the lush jungle-like forest.  We continue to the Ngorongoro Farmhouse to relax before dinner in the expansive gardens.

Day 3 & 4: NGORONGORO CRATER

An early breakfast and we are off to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a 12-mile, 2,000 foot caldera, the extraordinary Ngorongoro Crater, and site of some of East Africa’s richest wildlife viewing.  After a spectacular morning game drive, we will enjoy a box lunch inside the crater.  The afternoon game drive often allows us to view Africa’s cats: lion, leopard and cheetah, along with the huge herds of wildebeests, zebra, etc.  We will return to the Ngorongoro Farmhouse for dinner.

Day 5 6- & 7: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK AND OLDUVAI GORGE

After breakfast, we will begin our drive to the famous Serengeti National Park, stopping at Olduvai Gorge where Mary Leakey discovered the 1.8 million year old skull of Australipithecus Boisei.  We will hear a scientific lecture on the history and findings of the Gorge, and visit the museum.  We will proceed on the scenic drive to Serengeti, taking in the extraordinary views.  The following days will be spent viewing some of the best game concentration in the world.  Our evenings will be spent at the very luxurious tents and lodge of Masek Tented Camp.  You will not believe you are in the middle of Africa!

Day 8 & 9: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

This morning we will drive to Tarangire National Park to expand our safari experience.  We will be staying at Burunge Tented Camp, enjoying the outstanding food, wine and views. The Park is known for herds of up to 300 elephants, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland crowd the lagoons and surrounding areas.  One can spot lions and leopards in the branches of the sausage trees.  Tarangire has the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem and June is the prime time to view this game.

Day 10: DEPARTURE

Today we will have one last chance to view wildlife and the spectacular views on our way back to Arusha.  A day room will be provided for those who wish to relax before embarking on their flights.  You will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home, with memories of a unique and remarkable experience.
