By February of 2010, the Olmoti Clinic funds were in hand and the building construction was on the way. Rains delayed the completion by several weeks. The examination suite, delivery suite, nursery suite, and laboratory equipment all provided by IMEC is currently enroute from the states. We anticipate doors opening August 1, 2010 staffed with one doctor, three nurses, and a community health worker. While the Olmoti Clinic is still in need of an adequate water supply and enhancements to the solar power system, it can function well in service to the needs of the 30,000 Maasai tribal inhabitants in the district.

Several hundreds of Maasai women, men and children attended the June 3, 2010 official ribbon cutting celebration. Mr. James Ole Millya the Regional Commissioner introduced the celebration. Also on-site was Father Pius Shao, founder of the new 150 – bed hospital currently under construction in nearby Lerangwa. Dr. Shao and the commissioner have asked that Olmoti become an affiliate. This means that Olmoti clinic will have a fully equipped and staffed hospital for its patients requiring the emergency services of a hospital and ambulance.
